MUP has announced that an armed man threatened police in Belgrade last night, brandishing a gun and resisting arrest, until officers finally subdued him. According to a statement, a man named Ivan Pasuljski phoned the Belgrade police department’s switchboard at around 19:00 CET last night to report that an armed man was breaking into a car in front of 15 Miklosiceva Street. Armed man threatens police in Belgrade “A police patrol rushed to the scene straight after the tip-off and cornered the armed man. They asked him to show his ID, which he refused, and then he pointed the pistol at the police. He ignored a warning to give himself up and drop his weapon. After the warning, the police fired a warning shot, which he again ignored,” the police said. “After using his firearm, police officers arrested him, whereupon it was established that he had sustained two gunshot wounds to the left shin,” the statement added. After finally ID-ing the man, it transpired that the suspect was none other than Pasuljski himself, the man who had reported the incident, who, after a quarrel with his girlfriend, had informed her of his intentions, stating that the police would either kill him or arrest him. Subsequent analysis will reveal whether Pasuljski was under the influence of alcohol, as police believe was the case.
