Serbia has received important information on the investigation into the case of human organ trafficking in Kosovo, says Prosecution spokesman Bruno Vekaric. He told B92 that Serbia was preparing a report on the investigation for Council of Europe (CoE) Rapporteur Dick Marty. Hague, Serbia cooperating on organ trafficking probe Vekaric said that Serbia also expected serious cooperation from the Albanian courts, since recent evidence suggested that operations had been performed in northern Albania. The information, which allows new progress in the investigation on the trafficking of the organs of missing Kosovo Serbs, was given to the Serbian War Crimes Prosecution by the team of Hague Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, Vekaric said. “We received a report that states there are seven points that are compatible with the allegations that operations were performed there,” the spokesman said of the so-called “yellow house” in Albania where the operations are rumored to have taken place. “On the other hand, you have the Albanian prosecutor, who was at the scene of the investigation, who says that only two bottles of penicillin were found. So, we see that neither the former UNMIK investigators nor Albanian prosecutors are telling the truth,” Vekaric said. Former Hague Chief Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte was the first to hint at organ harvesting activities in her book, which was not published until after she had left the post. “There is a real basis for a large-scale and serious investigation not only in northern Albanian, but in Kosovo as well,” Vekaric said. “The trafficking of human organs is a secondary issue for us; we are primarily interested in the murders of these people and the kidnappings that occurred in Kosovo. These people were then taken to northern Albania,” he said. Bruno Vekaric (FoNet archive)
