The District Court stated that the ruling would take immediate effect. The court also rejected as unsubstantiated a lawsuit filed by Jakovljevic’s parents, Janko and Rosa, accusing Tufegdzic of telling Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti on December 17, 2004 that their son had been suffering from psychological difficulties, that he had not communicated with other soldiers, and that a day before the tragedy he had been unable to put a mobile phone together.
