A bomb threat has postponed the head-to-head confrontation in court of two former Red Star FC chiefs. The hearing has been rescheduled for midday tomorrow at the Palace of Justice. Red Star bosses to face off in court Former Red Star FC President Dragan Dzajic and the club’s former Financial Director Vladimir Cvetkovic arrived in court ten minutes before the beginning of the hearing. At about the same time (around 10:00 CET) the court received an anonymous tip-off that a bomb had been left in the building, whereupon the court guards then evacuated the building and all trials were adjourned. The two have given conflicting statements about the time and the place that negotiations on Red Star player Perica Ognjenovic’s transfer to Real Madrid took place. The prosecution suspects that the two embezzled USD 1mn from the Ognjenovic transfer. Dzajic and Cvetkovic, as well as former Red Star FC official Milos Marinkovic were arrested on February 5, 2008, and spent five months in custody. An investigation was launched against them on February 7 on suspicion that they had embezzled EUR 5.1mn in the transfer of another player, Goran Drulic, to Real Zaragoza in 2001. Later, the investigation was extended because the prosecution suspected that the Red Star officials had taken a further bung of DM 3.5mn (approx. EUR 1.8mn) in the transfer of Zoran Njegus to Atletico Madrid. Belgrade’s District Court has now decided to further extend the investigation into the suspicious circumstances surrounding the sale of Nemanja Vidic to Spartak Moscow, where they allegedly embezzled another EUR 2mn.
