Serbia of Europe and of the future has won over Serbia of the past, and is heading on the European path, War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic says. The news agencies quoted his address on Saturday at a meeting of general and special prosecutors, held within the Crans Montana 19th Yearly Session in Monaco. Prosecutor: Serbia on European path At the meeting, which ends today, Vukcevic was speaking in a European Union, Serbia and War Crimes session. “Two years ago we had six obstacles on the road towards the realization of justice for the victims of the crimes in former Yugoslavia. I am more decisive then ever to, through arresting the remaining three Hague fugitives, say loudly 'I am sorry' to the victims of Srebrenica, but also of other places in Bosnia and Croatia,” Vukcevic said. Vukcevic promised the participants of the gathering that their next meeting will be “without a single obstacle,” which existed so far due to "unfinished business with handing over of all Hague indictees". He recalled that the cooperation of the Serbian War Crimes Prosecution with Europe lasts for years, pointing out that the relation of the European intuitions towards the Prosecution is the one of cooperation, support and consideration. In October 2007, the Crans Montana Forum awarded Vukcevic with the forum prize for the results achieved in persecuting war crime indictees, and his contribution to the legal system in Serbia and in the region.
