Libel verdict against Belgrade daily upheld

The verdict against Pravda Press and the daily's editor has come into force, former Govt. Press Office Chief Vladimir Popovic’s legal representatives claim. In a statement, the Pavicevic law firm said the verdict outlawed the attacks on Popovic’s character. They have also been ordered to pay court costs. Under the law, the losing side is obliged to pay Popovic in full within 15 days of the verdict’s confirmation. The statement reiterated that the case concerned an article printed in Pravda entitled, “Vladimir Popovic and Cedomir Jovanovic’s Political Sunsets—Prison Awaits”, which contained a string of unproven allegations and libelous claims at Popovic’s expense.
