Russia wants an answer from the Hague regarding crimes against Kosovo Serbs mentioned in Carla Del Ponte’s memoirs. “Moscow is carefully following developments regarding the former Hague chief prosecutor’s memoirs on activities in investigating war crimes,” announced the Russian Foreign Ministry, adding that they had been shocked by “the facts that appeared about brutal crimes against the peaceful Serb population committed by Kosovo Liberation Army extremists in the name of their ‘battle for independence.’” Moscow steps into Del Ponte book storm Commenting on the media statement that Switzerland had banned Del Ponte from taking part in the promotion of her book, “The Hunt: Me and War Criminals”, the Russian Interior Ministry said that it was not surprised that such discoveries did not fit into the scenarios of a “string of countries” where propaganda portrayed the Kosovo Albanians as “great martyrs” and, on that basis, legitimized Kosovo “independence.” Moscow said that it could be expected that “the dosages of ‘freedom of expression’ on the subject of crimes against the peaceful population” were aimed at lessening the impact in international politics and public circles of facts that “uncover the criminal background of Kosovo’s illegal sovereignization.”
