11 employees of a bank in Vranje, southern Serbia, were arrested yesterday. The charges against the suspects, which police believe were members of an organized crime group, include abuse of official position, forging of official IDs, loan sharking and extortion, as well as aiding and abetting these activities. Earlier this year, ProCredit Bank Vranje branch head Simo Bundalo was arrested as the leader and organizer of the group identified and detained yesterday, news agencies said. The group provided fictitious clients for agricultural loans, to then produce forged documentation, and approve the loans. They then used this money to privately lend it, charging exorbitant interest rates. The case will be taken over by the Special Department of the Belgrade District Court.
