The Zvornik war crimes trial resumed today with a presentation of written evidence. The accused denied the prosecution's claims. Zvornik indictment extended The three defendants denied the accusations listed in the new indictment, on the basis of which their criminal responsibility has been extended. Dragan Slavkovic, Sinisa Filipovic and Dragutin Dragicevic told the Belgrade District Court’s War Crimes Chamber that they had seen each other for the first time in Belgrade Central Prison, that they had not known each other during the war, nor had they participated in any of the crimes of which they stand accused. In addition to the deportation of Muslims, crimes in Celopek and the Ekonomija and Ciglana districts, they have now been accused of the murders of nine Muslims in Crni Vrh and the arrest of Sponka Stojic, who testified to this during the trial. The accused and their legal teams said that the prosecution’s decision to alter the indictment was groundless, and not based on facts or evidence heard at the main trial. Those accused of crimes in the Zvornik municipality in 1992 include then President of the Zvornik “temporary government“ Branko Grujic, Territorial Defense commander Branko Popovic, and paramilitaries Dragan Slavkovic, Ivan Korac, Sinisa Filipovic i Dragutin Dragicevic. All save Dragicevic, who is using his right to silence, pleaded not guilty to the charges when the trial opened on November 28, 2005.

The three defendants denied the accusations listed in the new indictment, on the basis of which their criminal responsibility has been extended. Dragan Slavković, Siniša Filipović and Dragutin Dragićević told the Belgrade District Court’s War Crimes Chamber that they had seen each other for the first time in Belgrade Central Prison, that they had not known each other during the war, nor had they participated in any of the crimes of which they stand accused.
