Four Democrat and two Radical activists are the latest victims in the campaign-related violence. Last night, four Democratic Party (DS) activists were assaulted in Novi Sad, and sustained light injuries. Campaign gets dirty with "activist wars" Up to 15 unidentified men armed with baseball bats and iron bars stormed their vehicle and shattered all the windows. The four were hurt from flying glass. They also claim that a lit flare was hurled inside their car before the attackers fled the scene. A taxi driver passing by stopped and called for help, which prompted the assailants to flee. The police and the prosecution have been notified and are undertaking their investigation, the Democrats said today. The party vice-president Bojan Pajtic, however, called on police to qualify this attack as attempted murder, agencies reported. He said that the perpetrators intended to set the four trapped inside the vehicle on fire and kill them, "mafia style." Pajtic also revealed that the victims said the attackers allegedly shouted invectives referring to them as "Yellows", and, "This is for Seselj." Yellow is the color of the Democratic Party, and its members and activist are sometimes pejoratively called "zuti", or "yellows", especially by tabloid press. Meantime, the Radicals (SRS) reported more campaign-time casualties on their side: two of their activists, wearing jackets with printed images of Tomislav Nikolic, the party deputy president and presidential hopeful, were attacked in Belgrade, also last night. The Radicals claim that three Democrats assaulted their members, threatening them with a knife. But the Democrats this afternoon rejected any connection to the incident. Last week, similar scuffles, involving DS and SRS activists, were reported in the capital.
