Remains of Kosovo Serbs handed over

The Serbs, murdered in various locations in Kosovo in 1999 and 2000, were identified as Nebojša Petković, Stanko Čungurović, Petar Rakočević, Tomislav Marković and Ilija Jovanović.

The victims will be laid to rest tomorrow in Prokuplje, Niš and Belgrade.

The process of identification of the Kosovo conflict victims continues. The remains of several dozen people will be handed over to their families in the first half of this year.

The remains, belonging to Serbs and other non-Albanians, have either already been identified or are undergoing the final stages of the process, Missing Persons Commission expert Gvozden Gagić said.

According to the Commission’s data, 243 bodies have so far been exhumed and identified, while several hundred Serbs and other non-Albanians from Kosovo are still listed as missing.
