Zukorlić said that very few of the Wahhabism followers are educated and many have had very problematic pasts.

“Extremist actions in the name of religion have negative effects for everyone. In the last year in Sandžak, we had several incidents that cannot be ignored which were committed by people who call themselves Wahhabis.” Zukorlić said.

He said that Wahhabis are often were very loud will inside mosques, often interrupt services and provoke the mosque-goers to react to their behavior, which is why they have “in several incidents been reported to the authorities,” adding that the mosques have asked for protection from them, which the state institutions have not responded to.

Their arrogance has escalated, especially during the period of Ramadan, when a group of Wahhabis gathered in the main city mosque, Zukorlić added.

“I think that by controlling these mosques they are trying to prove their power and domination of the Islamic faith.” Zukorlić said.

He said that respecting the rights of the Wahhabis is not a problem, but the “aggressive behavior of some of their members,” is a definite dilemma.
