Kosovo policemen suspended for beating Serbs

Two Kosovo police officers have been suspended as a part of an ongoing investigation into the arrest of several Serbs in Gračanica on Christmas Day.
The Kosovo police have released that two of its officers have been suspended for their involvement in incidents during and after the arrest of the Serb young men.
The investigation is conducted by the Kosovo Police Inspectorate in cooperation with EULEX. The Kosovo police have stated they will continue to cooperate with the Kosovo Police Inspectorate and EULEX in the continuation of the probe.
The Kosovo police say they will, in the light of new evidence, take all necessary measures, reads a release published on the Kosovo police’s official website.
Ten young Serbs from Leposavić were arrested after a Christmas liturgy in Gračanica on January 7. After they had been released from custody, the Serbs said they were beaten and tortured by the Kosovo police.
Three of them were transferred to Belgrade for further treatment of injuries they had sustained in custody. The Kosovo Police Inspectorate and EULEX started the investigation soon after.
