He also denied that negotiations were underway with Šarić in order to grant him a witness-associate status.

“The Special Prosecution has no information that Darko Šarić has been located, that we are closing in on him or that his arrest is certain ad media have been reporting for days,” the prosecutor told daily Politika.

He noted that Šarić could only get a status of witness-associate if he proved that someone was above him in the gang’s hierarchy.

“This is not possible at the moment because he is on the top of the pyramid. If Šarić revealed some levels above him and if he said the names of organizers, then he would get a status of an organized crime group member and it would then be possible to give him a witness-associate status. The condition is that his story can be checked and proven,” Radisavljević explained.

There are two proceedings against Šarić before the Special Court in Belgrade – for cocaine trafficking and money landering.
