Kosovo: Serb child assaulted, seriously injured

BELGRADE -- The Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija on Thursday reacted to incidents targeting Serb children in Kosovo.

In a statement, the office wondered "whether the (ethnic) Albanian side was responding to the offer to solve the Kosovo issue contained in Serbia's platform by battering Serb children".

This came in the wake of the incident on Wednesday when a group of Albanian children assaulted and seriously injured a Serb boy, Marko Stanojević, in front of an elementary school in the town of Kosovska Kamenica.

The office called on the international community to secure the right to normal life to all children in Kosovo and Metohija.

"Attacks on Serb children have been occurring with increasing frequency over the past three weeks, and all the cases have been reported to the Kosovo police," the office said, and noted that this was not the first time it was appealing to the international community after similar incidents.
