Police seize 40 kilos of marijuana from van

BELGRADE -- The Serbian police in Belgrade have arrested a 36-year-old man from Prizren in Kosovo, confiscating at the same time 40 kilograms of marijuana from his van.

The suspect has been identified as Enver O.

The Volkswagen van had Subotica license plates and was stopped on the Pančevo-Belgrade road, when the drugs were discovered, the MUP announced.

76 packages of marijuana were hidden in specially constructed bunkers inside the vehicle, as well as in the fuel tank.

The suspect is facing charges of illegal production and distribution of narcotics and
will be brought before an investigative judge, the MUP explained.
