THE HAGUE The trial of former Republic of Srpska (RS) Army Commander Ratko Mladic was adjourned on Thursday after the defendant got sick. The defense requested a recess during Civil Affairs Officer and Political Advisor to UNPROFOR David Harland's testimony and Mladic became sick afterward. According to her, judge Alphons Orie scheduled the next hearing for Friday when Harland should continue his testimony. Mladic has been having health problems since he was arrested in May 2011 but his condition has significantly improved since he has been in the Hague Tribunal. He suffered three strokes before the arrest. Harland said that former RS President Radovan Karadzic in fact had no operational command of the RS Army because subordinate officers in the field had been reporting to Mladic, adding that Karadzic and the defendant did not agree on the issue.
