Police officer killed in northern Serbian town
A policeman was shot and killed in the town of Zrenjanin in Vojvodina, northern Serbia, while another was wounded when they tried to bring in a suspect.

A policeman was shot and killed in the town of Zrenjanin in Vojvodina, northern Serbia, while another was wounded when they tried to bring in a suspect. The shooter - identified as 30-year-old Goran Petrovic - was subsequently shot and killed by police. Police officer killed in northern Serbian town B92 unofficially learned that officers arrived at Petrovic's apartment with a court order to detain him, after a domestic violence complaint. The policemen arrived armed with rifles, but Petrovic saw them via a security camera installed in the building. He opened the door and immediately shot the policeman in the head. In the shooting that followed, another officer was wounded, before the suspect himself was killed. Petrovic was previously convicted on two counts of murder, and according to reports, was a violent drug dealer who also engaged in racketeering and extortion.
