Del Ponte: Mladic is in Serbia The former Hague Tribunal chief prosecutor pointed out that Mladic was hiding in Serbia “because it is the only place he can enjoy the protection he still has thanks to numerous friends and supporters“. She told Novi Sad-based daily Dnevnik that she could run the investigation into the allegations of human organ trade in Kosovo and added that the investigation should be conducted under the UN Security Council patronage. Del Ponte explained that she would conduct the investigation quickly since she is well-informed about the case and has good connections. The former Hague Tribunal chief prosecutor stressed that sentence to Croat General Ante Gotovina, who was sentenced to 24 years in prison, was “proportional to the crimes he committed“, adding that Croatia should accept the verdict.
