The EULEX police arrested on Wednesday in Kosovo eight people, while one was arrested abroad. The operation came in connection with the investigation into war crimes against Kosovo Serbs and Albanians committed in 1999, the EU mission in Kosovo said. EULEX detains 8 war crimes suspects The arrest warrant was issued by the EULEX pre-trial judge at the Pristina District Court, on the reasonable suspicion of killings, torture and other acts against Kosovo Albanians and Serbs, civilians and war prisoners at a detention center in Kosovo in 1999. EULEX said that several houses were searched in the operation. The EULEX release does not reveal the names of those arrested or where the operation took place, but the media say they were former Kosovo Liberation Army members, who were active in the Prizren and Drenica regions, around Malisevo. Albanian language media in Pristina reported that those detained included the regional police commander in Prizren Nedmija Krasnici. Ex-KLA in warning Organizations of the former so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) members urged on Wednesday the EULEX mission to stop its "hunt" against them and expressed opposition to the Malisevo and Lipljan arrests. Accusing EULEX of "provoking a situation full of tensions in Kosovo", the ethnic Albanians organizations, which refer to themselves as "war veterans", said that EULEX "lost its reputation in the eyes of Kosovo citizens". "The KLA and its liberation struggle are internationally recognized. Demonization of the KLA fight by EULEX clearly shows the cooperation that this mission has with genocidal Serbia and its associates within Kosovo," said in a statement in the wake of war crimes arrests.
