5 doctors arrested in corruption case
Five doctors and two representatives of a pharmaceutical company were arrested in Belgrade today, said Serbia police (MUP).

Five doctors and two representatives of a pharmaceutical company were arrested in Belgrade today, said Serbia police (MUP). The arrests came as part of MUP's ongoing Operation Crab, and the suspects are believed to have given and received bribes. 5 doctors arrested in corruption case The arrests were carried out in the towns of Belgrade, Kragujevac, Nis and Sremska Kamenica. The doctors were detained on suspicion that they in 2008 and 2009 demanded bribes worth more than RSD 2mn from the Merck pharmaceutical company in Serbia, in order to increase usage of its Erbitux cancer medication. Among the arrested doctors are the Nis Clinical Center's chemotherapy and oncology chiefs. All seven suspects will now be brought before the Higher Court in Belgrade.
