The prosecution of the Pec District Court has indicted 22 Serbs suspected of committing war crimes in the village of Zac, near Istok. Sabit Kelmendi initiated the indictments. He said that he expects the charges to be forwarded to the Special Court for War Crimes in Pristina. 22 Kosovo Serbs accused of war crimes The 22 indicted Serbs are former police officers and paramilitary group members, as well as former prison guards. “It is true that we have issued indictments against 22 Serbs for which we have evidence that they committed crimes against Albanians in Zac,” Kelmendi said. Eleven of Kelmendi’s family members were killed in Zac, six of which have yet to be found. The International Civil Office and EULEX have also shown interest in the indictments. Officials from both missions visited Zac on Thursday and met with Kelmendi. Albanians in Zac protested the return of Serbs to the village, among which they say are people who committed some of the crimes. The Serb returnees denied the allegations.
