30 October 2009 | 11:54 | Source: Tanjug
PRIŠTINA -- Another body, believed to be a victim from a group of illegal ethnic Albanian immigrants who drowned earlier this month, has been recovered.

The sixth body was found by the fishermen in the Tisa River in the north of the country, according to the Albanian language media in Priština.

As many as 15 people are believed to have died in the night of October 15, when their boat capsized as they were trying to illegally cross from Serbia into Hungary.

Media reports are also saying today that Austrian authorities have one person in custody who they believe managed to escape death in the river.

The young man would be the fourth survivor from the boat, that had 18 people aboard. A man and his two children also managed to escape drowning.

Kosovo police, KPS, said they identified several person suspected of participating in this attempt to traffic people and issued warrants for their detention.

Another man contacted the police, who had "an important statement to make about his role in the case".

The man reportedly handed over to police the money given to him by the victims.

The investigation showed that each family was to pay EUR 6,000-8,000 to the suspects in order to be illegally transferred to the EU.
