Endeavors to institutionalize and foster law enforcement in Kosovo have not produced expected results, a UN Development Program (UNDP) report says. The document, presented today in Pristina, describes the Kosovo judiciary system as non-transparent and notes that Kosovo citizens are often confused by it. UNDP: Judiciary in Kosovo unsatisfactory The number of unsettled civic lawsuits has risen to 50,000, while over 36,000 criminal cases remain unresolved, the report notes. The length of judiciary proceedings and bad case processing are the main problems, which undermine trust in institutions and gives rise to feelings of injustice, the report says. UNDP Resident Representative in Kosovo Frode Mauring said that the percentage of Kosovo residents satisfied with the judiciary system is very small.
