Vojislav Seselj told the Hague that Zvezdan Jovanovic “deserves to share the same fame and glory as Gavrilo Princip in Serbian history" "I believe that Jovanovic was falsely accused, because if he wasn’t, he would enjoy the same fame and glory that Gavrilo Princip has in Serbian history” said the Serb Radical Party (SRS) leader during cross-examination of prosecution witness Asim Alic, at his trial at the Hague Tribunal. Seselj stands accused of crimes against the non-Serb population in Croatia, Vojvodina and Bosnia-Hercegovina between 1991 and 1993. The defendant suggested that Alic had lied when claiming that Jovanovic had been one of four Serb paramilitaries that he had interrogated as deputy police chief in Zvornik after their arrest in early April 1992, a day before Serb forces attacked the town.
