Opposition DS holds protest rally in Belgrade

Addressing the rally, DS leader and head of the provincial government Bojan Pajtic called for action against the current government, which "has managed to increase the debt by EUR 10 billion in three years and impoverish the citizens, and which is pushing the country into a crisis that is growing increasingly deeper."

Pajtic accused the ruling parties of hiding behind one man (Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic), an "autocratic leader who has suspended the institutions of power."

"Serbia is today a country without a strategy, we are all being held hostage by ignorant people, charlatans and plagiarists," Pajtic said.

He accused the government of selling out Serbia behind closed doors, of using force to topple local authorities and stifling opposition activities, noting that the opposition therefore has the task of carrying out political changes.

The rally was attended by sympathizers and members of the DS, the New Party, the People's Movement of Serbia, Together for Serbia, the Sloga Trade Union, and Otpor flags could be seen as well. The protesters carried posters with caricatures of Vucic and the slogan "You are finished."
