"99.5 percent of asylum seekers returned to Serbia"

Stefanovic advised citizens not to depart for EU countries to seek asylum illegally.

Stefanovic noted that a more efficient and thorough control and supervision of the state border in the past year led to discovery of 14,945 illegal migrants, which is 2.5 more than in the same period 2013-2014.

He added that illegal migrations of Serbian citizens from Kosovo and Metohija toward the Hungarian border intensified between November 2014 and February 20, 2015.

In this period, 3,382 illegal migrants from Kosovo were discovered, of whom 867 are minors, he said.

A significant increase in the total number of discovered migrants has been recorded on the borders with Hungary, Macedonia and Bulgaria, while a drop in their numbers has been recorded on the border with Croatia, Stefanovic said.
