Vucic told journalists he was "happy to see foreign companies satisfied about the business climate in Serbia."

The prime minister said that Siemens had been present in Serbia since 1887, pointing out that the first light bulb in the country had been lit thanks to that company.

Siemens Srbija currently employs 1,150 people, 950 of whom work at the factory in Subotica.

“We believe that they will continue increasing the number of employees in our country, and they can always count on support from the Serbian government, governmental bodies and local governments,” said Vucic.

Since coming to Subotica in 1996, Siemens has boosted its workforce in the city from 12 to 950, which clearly shows that we are pleased with our operations and that the company is developing, Siemens Executive Vice President Marc Wucherer said on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, Wucherer said that Siemens's Subotica plant manufactures green technology products, which represent a global trend.

The fact that we make windmill generators means that we will continue the successful production at the Subotica factory, Wucherer said during Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic's visit to the plant.

Siemens is a global leader in electronics and electrical engineering and with 360,000 employees, it is one of the largest and oldest companies in the world, said Tanjug.
