Two Serbian citizens have been arrested in Uruguay on suspicion that they attempted to smuggle about 20 kilograms of cocaine.

Serbian citizens arrested smuggling 20 kilos of cocaine

The local La Republica newspaper writes that the pair - a 44 year old woman, L.P., and 67-year-old man, M.D., - "looked nervous" as they were about to board their flight to Europe, prompting airport security to search them.

Customs officers then noticed that their luggage "weighed more than expected," and discovered that they carried clothes soaked in liquid cocaine.

The overall weight of the items was 23 kilograms. 20 kilograms of cocaine emerged when the drugs were separated again through a chemical process.
