Serbia as "EU's most important partner in region"

The EU sent technical assistance and set aside EUR 60.2 million from the Solidarity Fund for the floods.

The two officials expressed satisfaction that an agreement was signed on Serbia's participation in the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

Stylianides said that the EU thus "shows it counts on Serbia not only as a future member, but as the Union's most important partner in the region."

The Prime Minister stressed the full commitment of the government of Serbia to its European integration because it is the most important foreign policy priority for the country.

He recalled that the screening process was successfully completed last month and that Serbia is fully prepared for the opening of negotiation chapters.

Tangible results in Serbian society and economy are already visible, the Prime Minister said.

Stylianides Wwelcomed the commitment of Serbia to become a full member of the EU as well as to make major contribution to political and economic stability in the Western Balkans through regional cooperation."

In this regard, he "stressed the importance of the meeting of heads of government of the Western Balkans Six next week in Brussels, where they will discuss infrastructure projects of strategic importance for better connectivity in the region with the EU," the Serbian government said.
