Serbia wants a stable Bosnia-Herzegovina, Aleksandar Vučić said on Thursday, noting that this is important for preserving stability in Serbia and the region.

"Stable Bosnia for stability in Serbia, region"

Responding to questions from reporters ahead of Friday's anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Peace Accords, Vučić reiterated that Serbia is maintaining special and parallel ties with Republika Srpska while respecting the territorial integrity of Bosnia.

"We would like to have full stability in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the future because that would be a boost to maintaining and preserving stability in Serbia and the entire region", the Serbian prime minister said.

Vučić also said that the statements by Serb Radical Party (SRS) leader Vojislav Šešelj, which have drawn reactions from Croatian officials, cannot destabilize Serbia.

"Serbia is a pillar of stability. Serbia has been, now is, and will remain a pillar of stability in the region," the prime minister said.

Commenting on Minister Aleksandar Vulin's statement that the US has released Šešelj from detention in the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and that Serbia's foreign policy should change as a result, Vučić said two days ago that the country's foreign policy in the wake of Šešelj's provisional release will not change.

The prime minister noted that Serbia is pursuing a good foreign policy towards the EU, the US, Russia and in the region, noting that the policy is also pursued for the sake of the country's economic interests, and that it "does not change according to daily circumstances".

In a statement to Belgrade-based Naše Novine daily on Wednesday, Šešelj said that the "Radicals will not topple the government through violence, but through extra-parliamentary methods, demonstrations and rallies."

On November 18, the anniversary of the fall of Vukovar in the armed clashes for Croatia's secession from the former Yugoslavia, Šešelj said that the SRS is not relinquishing a Serbian Vukovar or the Republic of Serb Krajina.

This caused furious reactions by Croatian officials, who said that Šešelj is a potentially dangerous "disruptive factor" in the region, launching a campaign for his return to detention in the ICTY.
