Dačić, Ashton to hold farewell meeting in Brussels

Over the last two years, Ashton has facilitated the dialogue on normalization of relations between Belgrade and Priština, where Dačić participated as prime minister in the previous Serbian government.

Ashton’s place at the helm of the EU’s external action will be taken over by Federica Mogherini, former Italian foreign minister.

Before leaving for Brussels, Dačić told reporters that besides with Ashton, he would also meet with newly appointed EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Mogherini and representatives of the European External Action Service to discuss continuation of successful cooperation.

He also said that it was uncertain if a regional gathering planned in Belgrade for October 23 will take place in the wake of the postponement of the visit of Albanian PM Edi Rama.

The ministerial conference is planned to bring together foreign, economy, and finance ministers of western Balkan countries and representatives of the European Commission.
