Ministers talk about "planned incident", call for tolerance

Aleksandar Vulin says <a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics.php?yyyy=2014&mm=10&dd=15&nav_id=91898" class="text-link" target= "_blank">the incident during the football match between Serbia and Albania</a> late on Tuesday was "carefully planned and intentionally staged."

Ministers talk about "planned incident", call for tolerance

"Everything that took place at the stadium last night was beyond doubt carefully planned with one sole goal - to show Serbia as a high risk country, unsafe and incapable of hosting guests from around the world, " the minister told reporters on Wednesday.

According to him, the purpose of the incident was to cause riots and show Belgrade as incapable of taking care of its citizens and guests.

"I cannot but see this as closely connected to the forthcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the announced military parade and all the days every Belgrade citizen is looking forward to with great satisfaction and impatience," Vulin said.

He expressed gratitude to the audience at the stadium "who demonstrated a lot of restraint and understood that this is a scenario in which they should not take part."

"Those who tried to bring the flag - or whatever that piece of cloth was - expected to see bloodshed at the stadium and wanted Belgrade citizens to show themselves as barbarians which they are not," Vulin said and added that "the audience demonstrated a serious attitude and took good care of the reputation of their city and country."

His cabinet colleague Zorana Mihajlović also spoke about the incident to call for tolerance and stress that "violence cannot bring any good to anyone":

"In the 2st century with our entire political and social history we would in no way like to live in a period of intolerance once again, because Serbia is an open country and always will be."

According to Mihajlović, who spoke in Novi Pazar "experience and history must have thought us that violence cannot bring any good."

"In this situation the game was interrupted and there's no result. The question is what happens now. I believe an end must be put to such event. This must never happen again.
