Serbia sets up joint teams for Ebola prevention

Lončar told reporters in Novi Pazar, southwestern Serbia, that "the most important thing now is to ensure adequate protection and invest joint efforts to prevent the Ebola virus from reaching Serbia."

He noted that joint expert teams have been set up by clinics for infectious diseases, Institute of Public Health of Serbia Dr Milan Jovanović Batut and the Ministry of Health.

"We have decided that in the first stage of the efforts, the teams should visit Serbia's inland and educate people in hospitals around Serbia and several hospitals in Belgrade," Lončar said.

The minister noted that the relevant bodies in Serbia keep daily contact with the World Health Organization (WHO) and are adhering to their instructions.

"We keep daily contact with WHO representatives and we are successfully implementing their instructions as is only adequate in this situation," Lončar noted.
