Imams, politician among those arrested on terror charges

The police in Kosovo on Wednesday morning arrested 15 persons suspected of involvement in terrorism, among them the imam of the Grand Mosque in Priština.

Imams, politician among those arrested on terror charges

Ramiqi heads the Islamic Movement of Unity (LISBA) party.

Imam Shefqet Krasniqi was recently questioned by the police, media reports said quoting police sources.

The homes of the two suspects have been searched, while those arrested today also include "Hajji Ekrem Avdiu from Kosovska Mitrovica and several imams from Kosovo."

Koha.net website is reporting that a 24-year-old man was arrested in Kačanik. He is a friend of Lavdrim Muhaxheri, an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo who joined the Islamic State to commit brutal murders in Syria, and was recently killed in Iraq.

According to reports, "the arrest operation is ongoing, and is being carried out by the anti-terrorist special unit of the Kosovo police."
