In a statement to Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS), Vučić noted on Wednesday evening that a Chinese prime minister has not visited Serbia for 28 years and a Chinese president for 30 years.

The decision by the Chinese state and government that their prime minister pays an official visit to Belgrade is illustrative of the trust that they have in the state of Serbia and its leadership, Vučić said.

He said that during Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang's visit, important agreements will be signed, primarily in the field of infrastructure, and added that he expects more investments from China.

“It is good that China has recognized Serbia as a responsible and serious partner,” Vučić concluded. Drawing attention to the assistance that China has been earmarking for countries of Central and Eastern Europe through various projects, he noted that the cooperation with China is giving Serbia an advantage over some other countries.

The Serbian prime minister said the talks with the Chinese prime minister also addressed the possibility of connecting Budapest, Belgrade and Athens via railway.

“This would be of the highest importance for Serbia,” Vučić noted, saying that he will discuss the matter, and preparations for the Belgrade summit with Greek Prime Minister Antonio Samaras and Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.
