Canadian foreign minister to visit Serbia on Friday

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird will arrive on a four-day visit to Serbia on Friday, the Serbian Foreign Ministry confirmed Wednesday for Tanjug.

Canadian foreign minister to visit Serbia on Friday

Baird will meet with President Tomislav Nikolićc, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić, and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić, Canadian Foreign Affairs Ministry said on its website.

“Canada is encouraged by the democratic and economic transformation of Serbia and its commitment to achieving greater integration and cooperation with the European Union and its institutions,” said Baird ahead of the visit.

The Canadian minister's visit to Serbia is a part of his Balkan tour that will also include Croatia and Albania.

The talks will address, among other topics, the continued strengthening of bilateral ties, the Canadian ministry said.

As Dačić noted earlier, this will be the first visit to Belgrade by a Canadian foreign minister in 13 years.
