The high representative, as stated, is closely monitoring the developments in Kosovo, especially in connection with the bridge in northern Kosovska Mitrovica.

"She asked her team in Brussels to convene on Friday a meeting between the two sides to work out an agreed way forward for all the issues related to the Mitrovica bridge, in line with the agreements reached in the EU facilitated dialogue and in the spirit of normalization of relations,” a statement said.

Serbs in northern Kosovo recently removed a barricade on the bridge between the northern and southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, and then brought in soil and put up flower boxes, saying they built a "peace park," while the Pristina side seeks it removed to allow the passage of vehicles.

Đurić, however, recently said that the soil and the flowers would remain on the bridge.

Ashton will not attend the meeting today because she is busy taking part in the Iranian nuclear program talks in Vienna, Tanjug learned in Brussels.
