Serbia will chair the Danube Commission for the next three years, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday.

Serbia elected to chair Danube Commission

The candidate of Serbia for the Danube Commission chairperson won the secret ballot over the Ukrainian candidate by six votes to five.

"Serbian Ambassador to Hungary Rade Drobac will chair the Danube Commission on behalf of Serbia for the next three years," said First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Serbia Ivica Dačić.

The Danube Commission includes Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine.
