Montenegrin contribution to flood relief praised

Nearly EUR 250,000 have been raised through an SMS charity drive alone, with more than USD 250,000 raised via the Montenegrin central bank, and over EUR 140,000 collected through a bank account set up by Prva Banka, he said.

Trucks carrying aid that is the most needed by the flood-hit population are arriving in Serbia constantly, Bingulac said, adding that the Metropolitanate of Montenegro of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) has collected several articulated lorries worth of food in just a few days.

Most local authorities in Montenegro have organized campaigns to collect aid for Serbia, and some ministries, in particular the ministries of defense and interior, established direct cooperation with Serbian colleagues, he said.

Bingulac noted that Serbia owes much gratitude to everyone in Montenegro for the huge assistance and solidarity.
