Soldier found dead at military range

A 43-year old man from Kraljevo employed as a professional soldier by the Serbian Army, "has committed suicide,"RTS said it had been able to confirm.

Soldier found dead at military range

Petrović died at the army's shooting ranges in Žiča on Friday morning.

Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić and army chief Ljubiša Diković were at the scene today, and later visited Petrović's family to offer their condolences.

A commission has been set up to investigate the case.

The Higher Prosecution confirmed for RTS that the man who died was M.P from Kraljevo, and that he was "a contractual soldier."

According to this, the motives for the suicide, as well as the details of the case are yet to be determined.

The investigation of the scene was conducted by the Higher Public Prosecutor from Kraljevo, in the presence of the police.

Some media outlets reported this morning that M.P. worked on securing structures, and that he "committed suicide by firing from an automatic rifle."

The telegraf.rs website said that the incident took place at 08:40 CET on Friday.

The Ministry of Defense confirmed the death of the solider, but not that he had committed suicide.
