At a news conference following the meeting of the SNS Presidency on Monday, Vučić said that the IMF places trust in the people who will govern the country, which will be a good signal to investors.

He underlined again his stance that there should be no pension cuts.

The announced tax on salaries of politicians is "a moral measure" that will not bring about some big savings in the budget, but will demonstrate the responsibility of the people running the state, the SNS leader said.

Speaking about taxes and the fight against the grey economy, Vučić announced a complete overhaul in the Revenue Administration and a larger number of inspectors, adding that this will yield results in countering the grey economy that will be noticeable as soon as at the end of the year.

The solidarity tax will most likely be scrapped, he said, adding that difficult fiscal consolidation measures lie ahead of the country, with structural reforms that should bring savings.
