Exports amounted to nearly USD 2.2 billion, and imports totaled USD 3 billion, reads an analysis of the economic trends by the Market Research Institute (IZIT).

“Such strong positive trends were brought about by major investments in the previous year whose positive effects are felt in this year as well,” IZIT associate Saša Đogović said.

He told a news briefing, which included the presentation of the economic trends early in 2014, that there will be no long-term growth of production and export without systemic reforms.

The volume of Serbia's foreign trade in the period January-February 2014 amounted to USD 5.2 billion, which is 9.2 percent more compared to the respective period in 2013.

Serbia's external debt at the end of January 2014 amounted to EUR 25.9 billion, which is 0.1 percent more compared to December 2013.

Serbia's foreign currency reserves amounted to nearly EUR 11.6 billion late in February, which is 4.2 percent less than late in December 2013.
