This number "does not include 651 conditional votes," it has also been announced.

Rakić said that his first task will be to make sure that "Oliver Ivanović and all the others under arrest" are released from prison pending the outcome of their trials. Ivanović was one of the candidates in the repeated elections.

Rakić also said that "the condition has now been met" to form the community of Serb municipalities in Kosovo, and thanked the Serbian government for its support.

His victory was celebrated at the headquarters of his campaign, and in the streets of Kosovska Mitrovica, said reports.

According to Aleksandar Spirić, a spokesman for GI Srpska, the voting went without any incidents, while the turnout was 20,63 percent - or 5,845 voters.

Ivanović's GI SDP said they "did the best considering their leader is in prison," and also noted that the citizens "gave in to pressure."

This group also said that there were "irregularities" during the elections.

According to reports, KFOR announced that the voting went peacefully and was very well organized by all those included in the process.
