Ex-president to take part in parliamentary elections

Boris Tadić, who last Thursday left the Democratic Party, has said that he decided to take part in early parliamentary elections on March 16.

Ex-president to take part in parliamentary elections

The talks about who will to enter into a coalition list have not been finished, Tadić added.

He said that he would consider receiving "anything over 10 percent of the vote" to be a success.

"I put a lot of effort for democracy in this country. I think it is dangerous for the country to fall into the hands of one party, the SNS, because it does not know how to run the country, there is no concept," Tadić said.

He also noted that his election list still had no name.

Speaking of the DS, Tadić said: "It is not the party that I recognize, that I ran in previous years."

Responding to speculations that SNS leader Aleksandar Vučić knew before Tadić announced it that he would leave the Democratic Party, he said that was "a lie used for political purposes," and that "no one knew 20 minutes before it was officially announced during the conference."

There is no secret plan or agreement with Vučić, and the SNS leader conducts such a policy as to make it impossible to make a deal before the election, Tadić noted.

"I have no deal with Vučić, or Dačić, just as I had no agreement with Čedomir Jovanović... I will remind you that it was reported that Jovanović and I were breaking up the Democratic Party together," the former president said.

Meawhile, Tanjug is reporting that the DS continued to lose its members on Sunday, with another seven leaving the party, including MPs Konstantin Samofalov and Goran Bogdanović, who served as the minister for Kosovo in the previous government.

Ninoslav Stojadinović,a member of the DS committee on foreign policy and Serbia's ambassador to Sweden and Bosnia-Herzegovina, also quit the DS.
