Dačić: No halt in negotiations with Priština

Dačić, who took part in a panel discussion on the Belgrade-Priština dialogue together with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, talked with them about the next round of dialogue that will be held in Brussels on February 12.

Dačić said that he talked with Thaci about some contentious issues that should be resolved.

"There will be no halt in negotiations with Priština, or the dialogue in Brussels, which is directly connected to the advancement in the EU integration process," the prime minister said.

European and world officials commended Serbia's leadership for the results achieved so far, Dačić said.

"All participants of the conference, ranging from American senators, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, to European officials, our traditional friends such as Russia, voiced support for what Serbia's leadership have been doing, and highly commended us for the results we have achieved," Dačić said.

During the panel discussion, Ashton praised Dačić and Thaci, underscoring that the credit for the reached agreements goes to them and not to her.

It is necessary that the leaders show readiness for a compromise, Ashton said, and her spokeswoman Maja Kocijančič posted on her Twitter account.

The Serbian prime minister noted that, on February 10, the UN Security Council will convene in New York to discuss the situation in Kosovo.

Dačić stressed that the Munich Security Conference deals with political and security issues, adding that it is of special importance for Serbia that the issues relating to Kosovo and the dialogue with Priština are a central topic of this year's conference.

The Serbian prime minister also talked with Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Lamberto Zannier which is important for Serbia for the organization of the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Kosovo and Metohija.

The prime minister said that, at the conference, he talked with officials of the new German government about the issue of bogus asylum seekers and Serbia's prospects for being added to the list of safe third countries.

"That would lead to a drop in the number of asylum seekers, speed up the procedure for processing the applications, and thus eliminate the danger that Serbia could be become a country in which the visa regime would be introduced," Dačić said.
