BELGRADE Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic is visiting Addis Ababa where he will confer with participants of the Summit of the African Union (AU). He will also meet with Ethiopian officials to discuss improvement of ties between Serbia and AU, especially in terms of the economy, it has been announced. Foreign minister attends AU Summit in Addis Ababa Serbia has the role of an observer in the AU and Mrkic told Tanjug that a number of meetings have been scheduled in the course of the summit. The messages the Serbian delegation voices at the summit will be included in the official documents, he noted. Mrkic will have a number of meetings with his Ethiopian hosts and ministers of AU foreign affairs, such as the South African Republic, Tanzania and Botswana. “In all these meetings, we will launch initiatives for tangible business cooperation,” he said. Noting that Serbia is a welcome guest in Ethiopia, Mrkic noted that Belgrade is doing its best to preserve and improve the relations. He announced that he will meet with officials of the AU Commission and deliver the draft agreement on business cooperation between Serbia and AU to AU Commission Deputy Chairman Erastus Mwencha, as was announced a month ago during Mwencha's visit to Serbia. Mrkic underscored that his talks with AU officials would also cover the Kosovo issue so as to avoid any misinterpretations of the current developments in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. “An authentic explanation is needed and we are ready to offer it to all our African friends,” Mrkic said.
