This was decided on Monday by the Collegium of the Social and Economic Council. Labor Law draft to be withdrawn from procedure The Council decided that a joint team should be established to discuss the labor bill, whose adoption is strongly opposed by trade unions. The meeting of the Social and Economic Council was attended by Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic - who also heads the Council - First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, Employers' Union President Nebojsa Atanackovic and officials of representative trade unions, the leaders of the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia and United Trade Unions Independence, Ljubisav Orbovic and Branislav Canak. It was agreed that all contentious issues related to three key bills - on labor, bankruptcy and privatization - should be resolved through a social dialogue involving the government, trade unions and employers, the government's Press Office said in a statement. At a joint press conference in Belgrade following a meeting with RS President Milorad Dodik, Vucic said that the labor bill has not even entered the procedure, as it has not been tabled to the government after a public debate. Vucic said that he expects a new bill to be complete in a month's time through a dialogue with employers and trade unions, which, he noted, does not mean that all of their demands will be accepted. Vucic added that he wants an agreement that would be good for employers as well as stimulating for workers. Dissatisfied with the proposed provisions of the labor bill, trade unions have demanded that the bill be withdrawn after a public debate, threatening to launch mass protests on January 23.
