KOSOVSKA MITROVICA Aleksandar Vulin has said that when Hashim Thaci called on Serbs to return to Kosovo, he should have done that from Djakovica, on Christmas Eve. The Serbian minister without portfolio in charge of Kosovo noted that he wishes that the Kosovo prime minister's call on refugees and displaced Serbs to return was "sincere," adding that "actions speak louder than words." "Thaci should have called on Serbs to return from Djakovica" “For example, the recent violence in Djakovica must never be repeated, violence should be condemned, and accountable persons should be punished, while the condemnation should be officially voiced by officials of the interim institutions in Pristina and officials of the international community,” Vulin said. “This would be a good start,” he said, adding that unfortunately a few days have passed and none of the Kosovo officials has issued any statement on the occasion of the incident in Djakovica earlier this week, when displaced Serbs were prevented from visiting a local church on Orthodox Christmas Eve. Vulin said that it would have been good if Thaci had gone to Djakovica and said in front of the crowd that stoned Serbs: “Do not do that, we want Serbs to return”. On Christmas, the Kosovo prime minister visited two Serb families in the village of Vidanje near Klina and called on displaced Serbs to return to their properties in Kosovo. A day earlier, Christmas Eve, ethnic Albanians in Djakovica stoned a bus carrying displaced Serbs from this town and prevented them from visiting the Church of the Assumption of the Holy Virgin Mary.
