BELGRADE Aleksandar Vucic says that while "nothing can be said with certainty in politics, if elections were held now the SNS would secure around 180 parliament seats." "In any case, it is good that a winning team continues to play, and in politics you can never say with certainty what lies ahead," Vucic said. "SNS would have 180 MPs if elections were held now" Serbia's first deputy prime minister and leader of the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) was speaking for for the Belgrade-based broadcaster Prva TV late last week, commenting on increasing questions about possible snap parliamentary elections. Expectations concerning the calling of early parliamentary elections were raised by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic who previously told the television outlet that Serbia could have a better government, and added that new elections would give much greater power to one party, which would then hold the prime minister's office. Vucic noted that this ruling coalition enjoys the support of the majority of 126 MPs in parliament out of the total of 250 seats. "However, everyone knows that were the elections now, we would have around 180 MPs in this coalition," Vucic noted. Ivica Dacic, Serbia's prime minister and leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), said on Friday that early parliamentary elections do not constitute a priority of the state. Nikolic repeated his stance on the functioning of the coalition government on Friday, noting that the government has to be an orchestra, in which only prime minister can be a soloist, while all others are members of the orchestra. "It seems to me that we have too many of them who think they could be soloists, and there the prime minister does not seem like a man who would say: do not do that anymore, stop that," Nikolic said. "If the assessment of popularity and voter support began, then it is time for early parliamentary elections," Nikolic said. Tanjug
